Schaedel Medical Models

Not only does RP provide companies with the ability to carry out rapid product development but these technologies can also be applied to other areas such as modern medicine particularly in surgical planing.
Hereby, tomograghy data relevant for the operation-preparation phase is converted into a 1:1 SLA model.
Using this model the operation procedure can be better coordinated step-by-step.
Implant-models can also be produced using this technology.
The accuracy of the models is +-0.2 mm. The materials (acrylic/epoxy) can be sterilised and withstand temperatures, e.g. an epoxy resin can withstand temperatures of up to 105°C.
The models themselves are not to be used as implants, but like wood or acrylic glass can be worked on by conventional tools, e.g. drilling, sawing or polishing.

A patient born with a distorted facial bone structure.
An anatomical model whereby the bone deficit can be defined accurately.
Simulation and individual planning of the operation is carried out on this SLA model.
The same patient after successful surgery. An ear prothesis is being prepared.
